Habló Jehová a Josué, diciendo: 2. Habla a los hijos de Israel y diles: Señalaos las ciudades de refugio, de las cuales yo os hablé por medio de Moisés, 3. para que se acoja allí el homicida que matare a alguno por accidente y no a sabiendas; y os servirán de refugio contra el vengador de la sangre. 4. Y el que se acogiere a alguna de aquellas ciudades, se presentará a la puerta de la ciudad, y expondrá sus razones en oídos de los ancianos de aquella ciudad; y ellos le recibirán consigo dentro de la ciudad, y le darán lugar para que habite con ellos. 5. Si el vengador de la sangre le siguiere, no entregarán en su mano al homicida, por cuanto hirió a su prójimo por accidente, y no tuvo con él ninguna enemistad antes. 6. Y quedará en aquella ciudad hasta que comparezca en juicio delante de la congregación, y hasta la muerte del que fuere sumo sacerdote en aquel tiempo; entonces el homicida podrá volver a su ciudad y a su casa y a la ciudad de donde huyó. 7. Entonces señalaron a Cedes en Galilea, en el monte de Neftalí, Siquem en el monte de Efraín, y Quiriat-arba (que es Hebrón) en el monte de Judá. 8. Y al otro lado del Jordán al oriente de Jericó, señalaron a Beser en el desierto, en la llanura de la tribu de Rubén, Ramot en Galaad de la tribu de Gad, y Golán en Basán de la tribu de Manasés. 9. Estas fueron las ciudades señaladas para todos los hijos de Israel, y para el extranjero que morase entre ellos, para que se acogiese a ellas cualquiera que hiriese a alguno por accidente, a fin de que no muriese por mano del vengador de la sangre, hasta que compareciese delante de la congregación. #Joshua 20 The Cities of Refuge 1. Then the Lord said to Joshua, 2. “Say to the people of Israel, ‘Appoint the cities of refuge, of which I spoke to you through Moses, 3. that the manslayer who strikes any person without intent or unknowingly may flee there. They shall be for you a refuge from the avenger of blood. 4. He shall flee to one of these cities and shall stand at the entrance of the gate of the city and explain his case to the elders of that city. Then they shall take him into the city and give him a place, and he shall remain with them. 5. And if the avenger of blood pursues him, they shall not give up the manslayer into his hand, because he struck his neighbor unknowingly, and did not hate him in the past. 6. And he shall remain in that city until he has stood before the congregation for judgment, until the death of him who is high priest at the time. Then the manslayer may return to his own town and his own home, to the town from which he fled.’” 7. So they set apart Kedesh in Galilee in the hill country of Naphtali, and Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim, and Kiriath-arba (that is, Hebron) in the hill country of Judah. 8. And beyond the Jordan east of Jericho, they appointed Bezer in the wilderness on the tableland, from the tribe of Reuben, and Ramoth in Gilead, from the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan, from the tribe of Manasseh. 9. These were the cities designated for all the people of Israel and for the stranger sojourning among them, that anyone who killed a person without intent could flee there, so that he might not die by the hand of the avenger of blood, till he stood before the congregation.

제 20 장

#도피성

1 여호와께서 여호수아에게 말씀하여 이르시되

2 이스라엘 자손에게 말하여 이르기를 내가 모세를 통하여 너희에게 말한 도피성들을 너희를 위해 정하여

3 부지중에 실수로 사람을 죽인 자를 그리로 도망하게 하라 이는 너희를 위해 피의 보복자를 피할 곳이니라

4 이 성읍들 중의 하나에 도피하는 자는 그 성읍에 들어가는 문 어귀에 서서 그 성읍의 장로들의 귀에 자기의 사건을 말할 것이요 그들은 그를 성읍에 받아들여 한 곳을 주어 자기들 중에 거주하게 하고

5 피의 보복자가 그의 뒤를 따라온다 할지라도 그들은 그 살인자를 그의 손에 내주지 말지니 이는 본래 미워함이 없이 부지중에 그의 이웃을 죽였음이라

6 그 살인자는 회중 앞에 서서 재판을 받기까지 또는 그 당시 대제사장이 죽기까지 그 성읍에 거주하다가 그 후에 그 살인자는 그 성읍 곧 자기가 도망하여 나온 자기 성읍 자기 집으로 돌아갈지니라 하라 하시니라

Josué señala ciudades de refugio

Habló Jehová a Josué, diciendo:
Habla a los hijos de Israel y diles: Señalaos las ciudades de refugio, de las cuales yo os hablé por medio de Moisés,
para que se acoja allí el homicida que matare a alguno por accidente y no a sabiendas; y os servirán de refugio contra el vengador de la sangre.
Y el que se acogiere a alguna de aquellas ciudades, se presentará a la puerta de la ciudad, y expondrá sus razones en oídos de los ancianos de aquella ciudad; y ellos le recibirán consigo dentro de la ciudad, y le darán lugar para que habite con ellos.
Si el vengador de la sangre le siguiere, no entregarán en su mano al homicida, por cuanto hirió a su prójimo por accidente, y no tuvo con él ninguna enemistad antes.

Entonces señalaron a Cedes en Galilea, en el monte de Neftalí, Siquem en el monte de Efraín, y Quiriat-arba (que es Hebrón) en el monte de Judá.

Estas fueron las ciudades señaladas para todos los hijos de Israel, y para el extranjero que morase entre ellos, para que se acogiese a ellas cualquiera que hiriese a alguno por accidente, a fin de que no muriese por mano del vengador de la sangre, hasta que compareciese delante de la congregación.

The Cities of Refuge

Then the Lord said to Joshua,
“Say to the people of Israel, ‘Appoint the cities of refuge, of which I spoke to you through Moses,
that the manslayer who strikes any person without intent or unknowingly may flee there. They shall be for you a refuge from the avenger of blood.
He shall flee to one of these cities and shall stand at the entrance of the gate of the city and explain his case to the elders of that city. Then they shall take him into the city and give him a place, and he shall remain with them.
And if the avenger of blood pursues him, they shall not give up the manslayer into his hand, because he struck his neighbor unknowingly, and did not hate him in the past.
And he shall remain in that city until he has stood before the congregation for judgment, until the death of him who is high priest at the time. Then the manslayer may return to his own town and his own home, to the town from which he fled.’”
